Festival Season in Chicago is upon us! It’s the time of year when your weekends are filled with food, music and plenty of fun for the entire family. The city hosts several large festivals throughout the summer; Gospel Fest, Blues Fest, Jazz Fest, and the Taste of Chicago just to name a few but the real gems are found at your local neighborhood festivals. Chicago is a city with plenty of diverse neighborhoods and attending local festivals allows you to immerse yourself in different cultures while enjoying beautiful summer days in Chicago.
This past weekend, I spent the day at the Hyde Park Brew Fest. Hosted by the Hyde Park chamber of Commerce and Kimbark Beverage Shoppe, the festival was two days. Located in the trendy Hyde Park neighborhood, the Brew Fest is a two day fest that celebrates beer. Admission to the festival was free but patrons can purchase tickets for beer, wine and cocktails and food. Held in the center of Hyde Park at Harper’s Court, the streets were jammed packed with people enjoying beers from local breweries, other cocktails, and food from the neighborhood eateries and dancing to music provided by some of the best in the business. I went on Sunday and enjoyed the sounds of J Grilla, Gemini Jones, Rich Medina, DJ Clark Kent, D-Nice, and Chosen Few DJs, Alan King and Terry Hunter. House Music Filled the air in an atmosphere that felt like a block party.
As festival season begins, there is plenty to do and see in the City of Chicago. Get out and enjoy this beautiful city! What are some of your favorite #SummerTimeChicago Festivals?
